Kampala is the largest and capital city in Uganda and if you happen to be taking your holiday here, there’s several things you can do to fill your days. A good start to get a feel for the history and culture of the area would be the Uganda Museum. Follow it up by visits to the Nommo Art Gallery and the National Theatre. When you're interested in checking out religious sites, there’s quite a few. These include the Kasubi tombs, the Bahai Temple, the Wamala tombs, the Kibuli Mosque and the Gaddafi National Mosque. If you prefer more physical activities, you can find bungee jumping, boating and rafting. Don’t forget to spend time taking a safari or visiting the zoos and parks.

Regardless of where you stay, ask staff for help with arranging tours, booking safaris and pointing you in the direction of local attractions.

Dining

If you choose to take your meals at the hotel, serving times are breakfasts, 7 am to 10:30 am, lunches from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and dinners at 7 pm until 11 pm. The Tree-Top Restaurant also provides magnificent views of the surrounding area. Vegetarians may gravitate toward Bhagwatt Restaurant, open 8-8, or Govindas, with its Indian cuisine. Light eats can be found in Pop Up Café. There are several restaurants and vendors scattered across the city, so you shouldn’t have problems finding a venue to your liking dishing up authentic Ugandan cuisine.

Attractions/NightLife

Relax to your favourite cocktails in Just Kicking, Lawns Restaurant and Lounge Bar, Al’s Bar or any number of bars throughout the city – either stand-alone or within one of the many hotels. For dancing, try On the Rocks. Fill your days by visiting cultural and historical sites like the Uganda Museum, the Nommo Art Gallery and the National Theatre. Religious sites include the Kasubi tombs, the Kibuli Mosque and the Gadaffi National Mosque. Check out indigenous flora and fauna in the Mouro National Park, Bwindi National Park, the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and the Botanical Gardens. For a more interactive experience, book and take part in a safari. Nature enthusiasts should also visit the Kabaka’s Trail.
