Casino King Diamonds

If you happen to be in Trujillo during your Peruvian holiday, pop over to Casino King Diamonds. There aren’t many games, but it could make for a nice hour or two respite before jumping back out into the blazing sun. On the banks of the Moche River, you’ll find the 2nd most populous area in Peru. Trujillo is the capital of La Libertad and holds the informal titles of ‘capital of the everlasting Spring’, ‘capital of culture’, and ‘capital of the Marinera (a native Peruvian dance). The area is also home to two major Peruvian archaeological sites; the temples of the sun and moon, and Chan Chan. Watch for various festivals held in the region.

The casino only has 79 gaming machines, however, after a day touring the city and its archaeological sites, a little time out of the sun and a bit of relaxation may be just what the doctor ordered.

There are no restaurants at the casino. Look to the Hotel for De Los Principles for dine dining as well as breakfast and weekend buffets. Talk to the casino staff for recommendations on popular local eateries or walk about and find your own to try some authentic Peruvian cuisine.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Enjoy drinks back at the hotel in OpenBar. Consider ordering yourself a Pisco Sour, the Peruvian national drink. Find your own neighbourhood watering hole and chat up locals about lesser known attractions and events specific to the region. Explore the various architectural wonders in the area, like Casa Calonge or Urquiaga, Casa Ganoza, Casa of Emancipation, Casa del Mayorazgo or Casa Tinoco. Check out the Freedom Monument located in the main plaza (Plaza de Armas). Prominent archaeological sites include the temples of the sun and moon, and Chan Chan. If you’re there in the spring, look for Trujillo Spring Festival and the International Book Festival.
