Palacio Real Tragamonedas 777

Located in the mainly commercial Surquillo district you can find the Palacio Real Tragamonedas Casino. There are a few areas of interest for those visiting such as several small pre-Incan ruins as well as Trinchera No. 3, a defence bulwark used by the Peruvian army during the War of the Pacific and their battle against Chile. The region is predominantly lower-class and known to contain thieves and gangs. Tourists are not recommended to wander around alone and especially at night unless traveling in groups.

The casino has a total of 200 gaming machines and no table games, a modest selection to say the least, but are open 24 hours daily save for Sundays where the hours of operation are 10 am until midnight. You may want to do your gaming after checking out the small pre-Incan ruins in and around town. If you opt to play at night, be wary of wandering around the neighbourhood after dark. Arrange for a taxi to take you to and from your accommodations.

The nearest hotels are 6 km from the casino. New Corpac is a 15 min. drive from the city centre but provides all the necessary amenities such as a restaurant, bar and room service. Este Hotel offers its guests free high speed internet and facilities include an on-site fitness room.

Dining

Visitors can opt to eat at the hotel in its restaurant or alternatively, ask a hotel clerk about any nearby treasures and popular venues serving authentic Peruvian cuisine. A local dish worth mentioning is called salchichaufa, a combination of fried rice and sausages. Be cautious of wandering out alone at nights in search of food. It may be best to stick to breakfasts and lunches out and dinners in at the hotel unless you are traveling in groups.

Entertainment/Nightlife

There is very little by way of entertainment aside from the casino, especially as it pertains to nightlife. There are of course local bars, but use caution and common sense if traveling at night as the region is known to contain both thieves and gangs. It may be the better option to use the hotel bar. The region has small pre-Incan ruins worth checking in the daylight hours as well as a local defence bulwark. Shopping makes for a great day out. Haggle for clothes and souvenirs or purchase fresh local produce, meats and fish at Surquillo Market to prepare your own meals in.
