Barceló Playa Montelimar Resort & Casino Montelimar

Managua is the the largest and capital city of Nicaragua and it is here you can find the Barceló Playa Montelimar Resort & Casino Montelimar. Considered the cultural as well as capital city of Nicaragua, there are plenty of things to do here for tourists coming to the area. There are several museums, restaurants, bars, theatres and monuments. After busy afternoons in the city, be sure to pop into the casino for a bit of R and R. If you happen to be staying at the resort, take advantage of the amenities there such as their 3 heated swimming pools, dining facilities and planned activities.

Gaming

The casino has a modest 107 gaming machines which consist of slots, video poker and fruities. There are also an additional 6 table games comprised of blackjack and American roulette. The casino is open between the hours of 7 pm and 2 am during the week and 24 hours from Friday to Sunday and is situated on the beach. Try your hand at cards and a few 21s may finance a few dinners out and pick up a bar tab or two.

Hotel/Accommodations

Rooms are divided into 2 sections at the resort; those which are in the main building and look out across the sea or into the gardens, and cabins which offer the same views. Rooms have cable tv and mini-bars and hammocks for unwinding. Room types are superior bungalow ocean front and bungalow suite ocean front. Amenities include a fitness centre, beauty and hair salon, Jacuzzi and solarium. There are also 3 heated swimming pools and a spa.

Dining

To enjoy buffets head to Oceana Restaurant while for a la carte dining, try La Casona Restaurant. Spend some time chatting up hotel and casino staffs to get recommendations on great local eateries or find your own when trekking through the city to sample authentic Nicaraguan cuisine.

Attractions/NightLife

Hang poolside enjoying drinks or wander over to the beach for some sunning and swimming. For the athletically inclined, there’s tennis, horseback riding, beach volleyball and basketball. Head to the nightclub offering dance classes or to chat up other guests while sipping your favourite cocktails. Alternately, enjoy your drinks in the lobby bar, open 10 am until 7 pm. Other bars include Bar Ranchon and Bar Las Palmeras also open from 10 am to 7 pm and La Casona Bar open until 11 pm. For later hours, there’s Bar Casino Y Club open until 2 am. Areas of interest in town include the Tiscapa Lagoon Natural Reserve, Lake Managua, the Plaza de la Revolucion, St James Cathedral, and the National Palace. For culture, there’s The Ruben Dario National Theatre and the National Library. If you’re traveling in August be sure to check out the local festival dedicated to Santo Domingo de Guzman and the Bajada del Santo (walk of the saint) which takes place. After touring the city, head back to the resort and pamper yourself at the spa.
