the term "newbie" seems somewhat degrading especially the way we are referd to by some of the "real" members
i'd change it to "new members" have some respect for the new members . you need us.
newbies are people too

The term "newbie" is not degrading or demeaning in anyway. I was the newbie once and i found nothing wrong in that. Its a common thing to have a hierarchy at forums. If you post more you can earn yourself a new title and new members group. Its all explained here Member Groups
This has nothing to do with respecting the new or old, or approved members. We treat all members the same, and if any "real" member is giving you hard time , or disrespecting you, you can always report that person to moderator. -

We all start out as newbies phantom..I never felt degraded or felt as if I was treated any differently here. If you do, you should say something.
I am in a couple of other forums, and they all have a hierarchy; and they are all at the bottom with "newbie" that's just how it goes.
I don't think anyone intentionally says anything bad about newbies..maybe a tease or something. -

In my case, I loved when I was a newbie. I not only think that word, newbie adorable and cute it also gave me a good advantage. I was okay even if I made some mistakes or didn't know things right everyone was nice and understandable because of me being a newbie so you see, everything in life has a beginning and what matters most id how you see things for better. You won't stay a newbie forever that I promise you.

OK-ok maybe Iwas a little hasty. it's just that in my first few days here i read posts that said "don't let newbies post" and don't let newbies in the poker tournament" . i was a little bit offended!
otherwise i"ve felt very welcomed at the site.
Maybe the term "degrading" was a little strong but i still don''t find the term "newbie" very flattering. -

Where does it says "dont let the newbies post"?? Every LCB member has the right to post, no mater whats his/her status (assuming they are honoring the forum rules).
As of poker freeroll, that was just the suggestion from one of the members ( not LCBs official stand ). And although i dont agree with that suggestion and think its a bit radical, i do agree with introducing the new rules for freerolls in order to prevent password leaks.
I think you are taking this WAY to serious, newbie term refers to a new member, rookie if you like, and its been here from the start and its here to stay.
definition of newbie term :
"One that is new to something ( in this case to LCB forums), especially a novice at using computer technology or the Internet."
Newbie is a slang term for a newcomer to online gaming or an Internet activity..."
Never the less i have very simple solution for you. And here it is: just keep on posting , and by the time you reach 50 posts youll officilaly become the Jr. Member.

Hi Phantom,
The term "newbie" is just a title that goes with the number of posts you have on the forum. Its not derogatory as Zuga said and we were all at that point once. I must admit to quite enjoying it when I was a newbie because its a great opportunity to make a lasting impression on long term members. The point in me writing this message - you have made a lasting impression on me. I remember your user name, I remember you in the poker section and I will now remember you. Full stop.

I was a "newbie" on January 1st 2009. Now I am a full member already. We have so many interesting people on this site, and so many great posts, that it is easy to get your posting numbers up when you can reply and add to the forum so easily.
I am working on becoming a SR member before to long, and I am pumped about it. I take a certain pride in it. Like "I have contributed" to this great forum. There were times When I was "newbie" that I was glad. I used to make mistakes, and I would post something in the wrong thread, etc, and I could hide behind my title, and be excused much more easily than if I make a mistake now perhaps. Although no one here has ever said a word to me for making mistakes. This forum is much to friendly and kind. I LOVE THIS FORUM. PMM2008 -

I do allot of traveling in my job, the way I see it, NEWBIE is allot better than other things I'm called on a daily basis. It will never stop amazing me how simple words offend people in our society, maybe it's the fact of being labeled or put into a category, that bothers them. The saying goes, "Those who have nothing to complain about, just aren't very creative." Although, to make another point, " WE ARE GAMBLERS" that's why were here, be happy, there are allot of us NEWBIE GAMBLERS out there just like YOU. Enjoy the labels that society gives you, and remember, that words are only words, they only hurt if you let them.

not all pioneers, admin, mods or whatever you may call it is all superior, in fact newbies are somewhat wiser than the higher rank!
I am a newbie too and i am not against with that word. I know i got a lot of knowledge regarding this forum topics. So feel free to speak! Phantom you are smart, but don't take newbie word too much. -

I am not pointing out the "superiority" of the higher member here, i know some of the members or newbies that admin, mods and full members are highly appreciated than newbies. i am just considering phantom's point of view.
but anyway, we are all here to share our knowledge and fun! Just enjoy posting and helping members an answers to all their queries!! -

Theres nothing wrong with being a "newbie" i was appointed a Mod. as a "newbie" so anything is possible, just keep posting, and help members here out, some of the best info comes from new members, so everyone is EQUAL here, no one looks down on anyone else.
Tony.
Perfect Tony,
We are all equal and nobody is any better than anybody else... as good as, but no better.
