Golden Nugget Lake Charles in Louisiana is due to open in 2014. It borders Texas and is approximately a two hour drive from Houston.



Golden Nugget spans over seven decades with its first Casino opening in Downtown, Las Vegas in 1946 on the famous Freemont Street Experience. Since that time Casino locations have expanded to Laughlin, Nevada, Atlantic City and Biloxi, Mississippi.

The new Golden Nugget - Lake Charles LA is owned by the Landry’s Inc. brand and will feature:

I just came across a bit of news regarding gambling in Illinois. Expansion is up for discussion with 5 more land based casinos being considered. Can't wait to see what happens! Online gambling is also being discussed.

That is awesome news froggy. Do you know where in Illinois the new Casinos are being considered?

Not sure where exactly but the Spring legislative session ends in May so we shall see then.

Horseshoe Baltimore is due to open in 2014 as a two-story casino, and will be the second largest casino in Maryland with a 122,000 sq. ft. of gaming.

This multi-million development will feature VLTs, table games, and a World Series of Poker room. A 20,000 sq. ft. "Baltimore Marketplace" featuring authentic Charm City food outlets, three premium restaurants, and several bars and lounges.

The $400 million Casino will be located along Russell Street on Baltimore's south side.

Massachusetts could see their first Casino as early as the end of 2014. Law passed in that state that will allow 3 Casinos and one Slots Parlor.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission targets February 26, 2014 to issue the casino licenses.  Once the license is issued the construction phase begin lasting 9-12 months making the grand opening of the first Massachusetts casino in late-2014 or early 2015.

The brand new Harrah's Metropolis moves from a river boat to land. The Grand opening took place  Nov. 19-23.



The casino is attached to the hotel and is sprawled out on a single floor level. Features include new slots, table games and World Series of Poker room. A buffet and steak house for fine dining is also available.

Entertainment will include a lounge, three new bars and live entertainment stage.

This is a massive long overdue improvement!

A 1.6 billion is what it will cost to build the new Wynn Everett Resort in Massachusetts.



The Wynn Casino Resort will rest along the Mystic River and will have breathtaking views of the Boston skyline. Once a former Monsanto Chemical Co. site, a polluted plot of vacant industrial land it will feature a bronze glass hotel with 600 rooms.

Valley River Casino & Hotel



Due to open in 2015 this Casino is near near Murphy in Cherokee County.  Valley River Casino sits on an 85-acre tract of tribal land in the western North Carolina mountains near U.S. 19/74.  It is just one hour from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort and a two hour drive from Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Atlanta.

The estimated cost to build this luxurious resort is $110 million which includes 60,000 square feet of gaming floor and a 300-room hotel. There will be 900 new jobs created.

Caesars Entertainment will manage this operation with over 1,200 slot machines and 40-50 table games.

Dining will include a buffet and small restaurant.

The construction already underway starting in June for new Rhythm City Casino Resort in Davenport, Iowa. It will sit on 40 acres with a target date to open Memorial Day May 30th, 2016.

While I'm excited that Iowa is slowly going away from boats.

I would have hoped that Rhythm would have gone a little less Isle of Capri traditional style with there place.  To me the name of the casino just screams it should have a music theme, not the generic Isle ocean theme.

Then again that's just my thoughts.

I am so glad too many of the casinos are remodeling on land. I think it is all due to state regulations that have finally lifted that casinos had to be on a boat!

Here in  the Chicago land area there is only one river boat casino left - Grand Victoria. I think they want to remain and become a nostalgia and unique from the rest in the area.

Yeah I had no idea BTW, that Grand Victoria actually is half owned by MGM.  I'm surprised that they were pushed into promoting the m Life card versus being able to brand there own card like they did.

I know its crazy isn't it. I think its because MGM is only partial owner. I wish Grand Victoria didn't have their own card because the M Life card so much more to offer including destinations.

Coming soon (2017 Spring) to Massachusetts-

Steve Winn brings his brand of exclusive casinos and resorts to just north of Boston - Everett, MA is where this new megaplex will be. 24 acres of resort, right on the mystic river.

Meanwhile, MGM Grand comes to western mass in springfield, slated to open winter of 2016/spring 2017

Shooting Star Casino



The brand new Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota near Bagley is scheduled to open in the spring of 2016..

Star Lake Casino

White Earth Nation announced plans to build a casino on the shoreline of Star Lake in Otter Tail County, Minnesota.  The location is near County Highway 41 and will be situated on west side of Star Lake and south of the White Earth Indian Reservation between Pelican Rapids and Dent. Construction will be being next year with plans to open sometime in 2017. If the plans follow through it will be White Earth Nation's third casino for the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel and Entertainment company.

West Valley Resort & Casino



The new Casino will be fully opened in 2016 and is the property of  Tohono O'odham Nation. Located at Northern Avenue between 91st Avenue and 95th Av. Glendale, AZ it will have 1.2 million sq ft.

Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor

Due to open in 2016, Rivers Casino will be located in Schenectady, NY. Rush Street Gaming in Chicago will operate the 50,000-square-feet Casino featuring 66 table games and 1,150 slot machines. The 150,000 square foot facility will also feature a steakhouse, lounge, restaurant with light fare, spa and banquet hall. Attached to the Casino will be a150-room hotel and parking garage.

Desert Diamond West Valley Resort & Casino broke ground on August 28, 2014 and is expected to be completed early 2016.



Located on 78 acres of land in Glendale, AZ it will feature:

1,089 gaming machines
50 table games
25 poker tables
1,000-seat bingo hall
5 restaurants
Event center
3 bars

Wow Glendale is get 2 casinos in the matter of a year.  Must have a nice steady economy down there to warrant 2 new casinos in such a short period of time.

Even though the 1,000 slots at each casino seems a bit small especially for the size of Glendale.  Yet I suppose with 2 casinos within driving distance, if one place is too packed for your liking.  You can always go the other.

BTW, seeing all of the bingo seats, has anyone actually won anything decent at a real bingo hall?  Honestly I've played twice and never had much luck honestly.

I have won $500 a couple times at a Bingo hall. It is a nice change of pace especially when money is running low!

  The ever-famous Rob Ford was pushing for a downtown Toronto casino, which, strangely enough, doesn't have one. But it's only a 20 minute-type of drive to Woodbine Racetrack & Casino, which is very stuffed full of machines & an especially attractive racetrack. 
  But I love new places and am looking forward to a reason to share the charm.  :'X

DiamondJacks Casino and Hotel in Vicksburg, Mississippi was recently acquired by Foundation Gaming Group, LLC and will be rebranded as WaterView Casino and Hotel It is name due to the location of the Casino that rests along the bend of the Mississippi River.

Updates to the new newly purchased Casino will include:

Revamping the property’s color palate and exterior finishes, in the casino and pavilion.
More games options which will involve a new management system able to offer players additional incentives.
A casino floor show bar with a stage, and recreating a second bar on the mezzanine levels.
Refurbishing the steakhouse and buffet.
Modifying loyalty program.

“We are excited about the transformation of our Vicksburg property to the WaterView brand, and the significant capital improvements we are making reflects our commitment to offering our guests a great gaming and entertainment experience each time they visit our property,” according to the Mississippi Business Journal.

DiamondJacks formerly Isle of Capri Vicksburg currently offers 700 video poker, reel, progressive, and mostly video bonus slots and13 gaming tables. The property also has 122 guest rooms, deluxe whirlpool tubs suites, and outdoor hot tub and pool.

Plans for New Casino in Biloxi



The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has plans to open a Foxwoods Casino resort in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The resort will sit on 23 acres with 50,000 sq ft casino, 500-room hotel, exhibition space, restaurants, retail space, spa and outdoor entertainment attractions.

“This is an exciting opportunity to not only expand geographic diversification for the Foxwoods brand but also leverage our management expertise well beyond New England,” said Rodney Butler, Chairman for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council, which also operates the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

The new Foxwoods Resort Casino is expected to open in the spring of 2019.

New Del Lago Resort and Casino to Open

On New York’s 85 acres, the spacious casino in Waterloo, Seneca County is due to open February 1st. The luxurious resort cost $440 million to and should create 1,800 jobs.

About 35% have already been hired and according to Jeff Babinski, the Executive Vice President "They're excited! I want to see their faces when they finally come in, look and see and say 'oh my gosh' this is amazing."

It will feature 2,000 slots, 75 tables games and a poker room.

"Well, we're getting close," said Babinskiand. "Just about every slot machine is here with the exception of 71. We have over 1,060 team members on board. Going through orientation as we speak."

 

Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino Opens on the Strip

Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino is a small Asian themed boutique 300 West Sahara Avenue, located near the Las Vegas Strip

Located next to Allure Las Vegas high-rise condominium, it was initially planned to be the site of a second Allure tower, but was canceled due to economic conditions. The Casino had a soft opening in November and an official grand opening on December 3, 2016.

The Lucky Dragon focuses on Asian customers' and is projected to be the resort's target customer base. The hotel features 203 rooms and a 27,500 sq ft casino with table games like Baccarat and Pai Gow featured.

MGM Springfield Project Underway

The $950-million resort casino is in the works. The grounds will spread across 14.5 acres.

Construction for the seven-story parking garage has crews working on the electrical plumbing and interior masonry walls and should be finished by this spring. The hotel is expected to be 7 stories high and will have 495 rooms. 

 

The casino is scheduled to open in September 2018.

Rivers Casino Schenectady Grand Opening

Anxious gamblers flocked on the first day Rivers Casino opened in New York. Make its' debut on Feb 8, 2017 (today)! 

It features 1,100 slot machines and 67 gaming tables. The state approved a total of four casinos and this is the second one to open. 

Some locals were so excited they camped out long before the doors opened at new to be among the first to cross the threshold.
