Well first of all I think free spins are a really nice gesture casinos can make, however, they don't need to do that, they don't need to give anything for free. I think us, players, sometimes like to take things for granted, such as no deposits. If casinos do give them- that's amazing and shows they value their clients.
Secondly, I think it's just marketing. Whenever you get email with "free spins" as email title, the possibility you will open the email and check offer is much higher than it would be for "deposit bonus spins", so they're just trying to get your attention. Can be irritating but that's just how it is

I couldn't agree more. There are some casinos that give free spins that don't require a deposit and a few even give wager free, free spins. Those casinos are great!
Unfortunately, a lot of the 'free spins' offered these days require a deposit.
IMO When you pay
for something ('free spins') it, by definition, is not free.

IMO You are probably right about the marketing part and that it's just how it is.
Even so, it still annoyes >:D (~/~) me to say the least! Somewhere along the way the meaning of 'free spins' was changed by the casinos
. From then on 'free spins' meant 'free spins after you make a deposit' and what used to be known as 'free spins' became known as 'no deposit free spins'.
It just isn't right. I think it's misleading. I still don't understand how this could happen, Why did we go along with it? I mean, there was a time only the rogue ones marketed their casinos by misleading their players that way. Somehow, it became common practice.
(Or am I the only one with these questions)
