Back

Wynn Resorts has finally opened its Encore Boston Harbor construction. After long expectations, the big opening took place on June 23rd.

The venue’s door opened at 10:00am and was surrounded by interested visitors who wanted to enter the complex. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, about 5000 people were in line at noon while the rest of the visitors entered the building around 2:30 pm. Wynn Resorts mentioned that average gambler spent four hours waiting in line.

Waiting Line

First Encore Vistors waited hours to see the complex. However, it was more than a convenient experience for visitors. Wynn employees supplied the people with snacks and water and they could enjoy in pleasant weather. In addition, Encore gamblers had an opportunity to watch daily fireworks and spend some good moments.

The first man who entered the legendary Encore Boston Harbor was Glenn Reynolds. This 65-year-old Quincy resident waited 17 hours to enter the building. According to his claims, he’s used this, having experienced similar wait times over the years at Fenway Park for Boston Red Sox competitions.

Official Words

Commenting on the successful opening of the casino complex, Wynnˈs Chairman of the Board, Phil Satre said:

“I’m used to seeing half-empty casinos, so this is really great.”

Wynn CEO, Matt Maddox observed:

“I think in the future there will be cities not just in this country but all around the world that will look at this, and Japan is an example of that. They’re going to look at more urban development. Macau was a clean slate, and Nevada has always been a clean slate. I was involved in the early development of Atlantic City. That was a redevelopment project, but it was already a tourist city, and this is not a tourist city.”

He added:

“Boston, while it has a big tourist economy, it’s got a much broader economy. Cities that have a broader economy but want to diversify will look at this and say, ‘Can we do what Boston did?’ I think it’s a relevant consideration for those cities.”
