Responsible Gambling Week is just around the corner, and will be taking place October 12th through the 18th. For those who are unfamiliar with the event, it is a national initiative to advocate responsible gambling. It brings together several facets of the gambling industry and charities such as GambleAware and GamCare, to support a worthy cause. 2017 marks the campaign’s FIRST year and it plans to dive right in to answering the overarching question: what does it mean to gamble responsibly?
The one-week period will see a variety of activities led by the UK gambling industry. To get the word out, a series of posters, banners, and leaflets are posted within gambling facilities throughout the country, as well as on industry websites and on social media channels. Such steps are taken to encourage the conversation among players.
Additionally, information points will be available to the general public via partnership with GamCare throughout the week, while staff at both gambling facilities and websites will serve as useful contacts for further information on gambling responsibly. Individuals can also expect in-depth Q&A sessions through online chat rooms and social media.
Finally, an event is expected to be held in Parliament to educate politicians on what it means to gamble sensibly, in addition to what steps they can take to spread the message.
The official week kicks off on October 12th. Don’t hesitate to join in and help spread the word. It’s a great opportunity to educate yourself and others to place bets wisely and within your means, and to seek gambling help when necessary.
