NetEnt, ATG Sign a Supply Deal

Back

Swedish provider of digital casino solutions, NetEnt has inked a deal that will enable it to supply its products to Swedish horse racing operator, AB Trav och Galopp (ATG). The Stockholm-based operator (founded in 1974 as a subsidiary of Swedish Trotting Association) provides horse race betting both in Sweden and internationally.

Says ATG’s Chief Product and Business Development Officer, Mikael Bäcke:

“Our ambition at ATG is to create a responsible and exciting casino experience with long-lasting relations to our customers. We are pleased that NetEnt will play an important role in achieving this ambition.”

NetEnt has said it aims to be “ready to operate together with its partners on the day of market opening,” adding that a key part of the company’s growth strategy is “expansion in regulated markets.”

According to Chief Product Officer of NetEnt, Henrik Fagerlund:

“I am very proud that we are partnering up with ATG for the new Swedish regulated market. ATG has a very strong brand in Sweden, and with our experience in online casino and regulated markets I am confident that we can support ATG in their ambitions to grow outside of horse racing.”

The commercial launch is planned for the beginning of 2019.

Market Re-Regulation

Back in June, Riksdagen approved the legislation for the country’s gambling market re-regulation...

The new law, going by the name of en omreglerad spelmarknad (“Re-Regulation of the Gambling Market”), will allow international gambling operators to apply for a license and operate in a regulated environment.

Once it has taken effect (January 1st, 2019.), the law is to replace Sweden’s Lottery Act of 1994 and Casino Act of 1999. Both of these (still valid) stipulate that gambling services are to be provided by a couple of state-owned entities alone.
