Kindred Group became the first US-based operator to team up with Gamban to offer US Unibet customers a capacity to block online gambling sites across different devices.
The long-standing cooperation between the brands has been in effect since 2017, across Europe and Australia.
Kindred Group is Unibet’s parent company which has entered this deal with Gamban, that is a UK-headquartered gambling software provider and gambling blocker enabler. Their software functions as an online gambling self-exclusion tool, that prevents access to any online gambling site on individual devices.
Maris Catania, Kindred’s Head of Responsible Gambling and Research, has said that Unibet offers customers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Indiana a safe and exciting gambling experience. The company has also applied for Iowa and Illinois licenses.
“It has always been our ambition to bring our European know-how and expertise in Responsible Gambling to the US and our long-standing successful partnership with Gamban perfectly aligns with this ambition, as well as our journey towards zero revenue from harmful gambling by 2023. We are proud to be the very first operator in the US to offer inter-state protection to our customers and we strongly believe this will be an important step for the industry,” added Catania.
Gamban’s co-founder, Jack Symons, has added that his company is very excited to partner with Unibet and offer blocking software in the US.
He considers this a huge step forward for the industry as there is no regulatory pressure for gambling operators to offer blocking software, so that Unibet is taking it upon itself to offer increased protection for customers in the US and globally is great.
Symons said that “this highlights the evolution of the industry in recognising how products like ours can protect their players and the sustainability of their companies, as well as the wider industry.”
This move is in line with Kindred’s plan to have 0% of total revenue come from harmful gambling by 2023. They are the first US operator to report the share of revenue that is generated by harmful gambling and will continue to report this share in every quarter.
