Gamble Aware Starts Major Safe Gambling Mission In UK

Back

It has been announced that Gamble Aware charity company has launched its largest safe gambling campaign in Great Britain. The company aims to prevent gambling harm in British territory. The name of the campaign is ‘Bet Regret’ and it will support players in increasing awareness of betting problems. It includes impulsive betting, especially among young people between 16-34 years of age who participate in online betting.

Campaign Creation and Reactions

The company launched its safe gambling mission after an in-depth research of the market. It organized detailed consultations with experts on academic ground and other focus groups. On this opportunity, UK Minister for Sport and Civil Society, Mims Davies commented:

“This groundbreaking joint campaign will make people think hard about their betting habits, assist to remove the stigma around gambling addiction and give people more courage to say they need help. It is crucial that we both focus on prevention as well as cure and this campaign will help to educate people to recognise risky play. I am determined to deliver more collaborative work to help to change behaviours to reduce the threat of problem gambling.”

Professor Sian Griffiths added:

“The Bet Regret campaign is about raising awareness of behaviours that people might not always recognise as impulsive or risky, such as sports betting when drunk, bored or chasing losses. We want people to identify with the campaign, realise they too have those kick-yourself moments when betting and reflect on their behaviours, thus preventing future ill-considered bets which are so often the pathway towards harm.”

The professor emphasized the importance of the Bet Regret mission and finds justification in future harm prevention. As Deputy Chair of Public Health England as well as Gamble Aware Trustee, Griffiths is highly skilled in his estimations. We can only support his opinion and the entire mission.
