Taking its first steps into the Spain’s online gambling market, the Betsson Group has acquired Spanish-focused Premier Casino.
The €3 million deal should be finalized by month’s end and serves as an entry point into the market with plans to launch further brands under Premier’s gaming license. Betsson CEO and president, Ulrik Bengtsson, said, “The [Premier Casino] acquisition is in line with Betsson’s ambition to increase the share of locally regulated revenue.
“Spain is one of Europe’s largest gaming markets and especially casino is growing fast. Betsson’s strategy of building and running locally strong casino brands, for example in the UK and Italy, makes me confident that we will build leading brands also in Spain.”
According to the stats, released by the Spanish regulator, Premier’s 2016 revenue shot up 34% as compared to 2015 coming in at €429 million.
The latest acquisition is the most recent in a series of purchases made in an effort to expand in other markets. Previous buyouts include RaceBets for a €40 million price tag and the Lithuanian arm of TonyBet for €6 million. Betsson Group is in the midst of closing on yet another contract for the purchase of NetPlay TV.
